"This is our second stay at this wonderful fishing lodge. This time it was my husband and I and we brought a good friend . In our three days of ocean fishing we caught 260 pounds of the most outrageously delicious King salmon and halibut which worked out to be 180 pounds of dressed fish. We went home with four huge cartons of flash frozen fish. Amazing.

Setting off each morning with a hearty breakfast made to order, a filling lunch and a gourmet dinner catering to any special needs one might have was certainly the icing on the cake making this an ideal active vacation trip. Fishing and pampering doesn't get much better than this. Valerie is amazing and couldn't be more accommodating if she tried. The wonderful staff and guides are a true reflection of the kind of establishment that Valerie runs. Another bonus is a comfortable lodge, all of your fishing gear and supplies. We got to see eagles being fed, fluffy brown bears lumbering by and deer grazing."

"Simple logistics make Valerie's lodge my hands down favorite (and I've been 5 times now and brought my husband along on 4 of those trips). She has the longest run of salmon I've found anywhere. If you're also inclined to fight bottom dwelling brutes there is fantastic fishing for halibut, yelloweye rockfish and lingcod. I've never lost a day of fishing because the Cartwright Sound is directly off the well protected inlets and bays. Unlike Sitka, Alaska where there is a huge number of boats competing for your fishing space, you will enjoy diverse fishing grounds with little fishing pressure. There's no screaming tides like Ninilchik, Alaska either.

And speaking of tides... She has jet boats with kickers so you can scoot through the narrows without having to have the tides dictate when you get to fish. Valerie also has a special knack for pairing up anglers, if needed, to share boats. Beautiful accommodations, excellent cuisine, and great guides are icing on the cake. Oh and in 2015 National Geographic put the Haida Gwaii Islands in their top 20 places to visit. The scenery is stunning! If you get a chance go see the Haida Heritage Centre."
